Preliminary bathymetric study for underwater pipeline
Project: Installation, construction and commissioning of marine infrastructure and underwater gas pipeline in Acajutla
Client: Boskalis
Date: February 20 - March 20
Place: Acajutla, El Salvador
Description: «Hidroprojects played a crucial role in the initial phase of the project, carrying out the bathymetry with a specialized approach and precision. Below are the activities and functions performed:
Hidroprojects used a Multibeam SeaBat T-20P echo sounder to carry out initial bathymetry of the designated area. This technology enables detailed and precise exploration of the seabed, providing crucial information about the depths and features of the underwater terrain.
To guarantee maximum precision in the location and mapping of bathymetric measurements, a positioning system with GPS-RTK was implemented. This real-time positioning technology allows for accurate georeferencing of each data point collected during the study.
The main objective of the bathymetry was to verify the depths in the designated project area. In addition, the aim was to detect the presence of possible rock outcrops on the seabed. This information is essential for the planning and execution of future stages of the project, especially in terms of safety and structural design.
The choice of the SeaBat T-20P multibeam echo sounder was critical due to its ability to provide detailed and accurate data. The ability of this equipment to generate high-resolution maps of the seabed allowed areas of interest and possible risks to be clearly identified.
As a result of this initial bathymetry phase, Hidroproyectos provided a detailed report that included depth maps, location of rock outcrops, and georeferenced data for integration into project planning. This information provides a solid and accurate basis for the following stages of design and execution.
Hidroproyectos, through its experience and cutting-edge technology, has established a standard of excellence in bathymetry and seabed studies. Our dedication to precision and quality ensures that each project moves forward with confidence and efficiency.
