APM Terminals Moin sedimentation study

Project: Sedimentation study under the pier and docking area of APM Terminals Moin

Client: Deep BV

Date: November 2020 - December 2020

Place: Moin, Costa Rica

Description:

«Hidroproyectos took on the challenge of carrying out a bathymetric study with Multibeam technology at the important APM dock in Moin, Costa Rica.
Our company deployed a highly trained team to carry out a detailed bathymetric survey with Multibeam ecosando. The main objective was to calculate sediment volumes and determine the sedimentation rate in the dock area.
In this project, the main problem that The Client faced was being able to have trained personnel in the area to carry out the study. Due to the travel restrictions that existed at that time, as a result of the pandemic. The client found himself with the equipment in the area, but without the personnel to use it properly. For this reason, they turn to Hidroprojectos to place their trust in our specialized team and hand over the responsibility of operating the equipment and acquiring the results, maintaining the quality standards of their company. Our company demonstrated a quick response and effective solutions to guarantee the execution of the project in the required time and with the necessary quality.
To ensure that operations were carried out according to client standards and needs, daily meetings were held. This constant communication allowed for efficient and accurate execution of each stage of the bathymetric study.
A state-of-the-art Multibeam echo sounder was used to obtain accurate and detailed seabed data in the dock area. This technology made it possible to generate maps of the seabed with exceptional resolution. Additionally, a Total Station was used for positioning under the dock, a different technique from the GPS positioning normally used. This tool allowed us to obtain precise coordinates of the points of interest under the dock structure.
The bathymetric study carried out by Hidroproyectos provided the client with essential information for the effective management of the maintenance of the APM dock in Moin. The calculated sediment volumes and the determined sedimentation rate are critical for future planning and informed decision making.
At Hidroprojectos, we are proud of our commitment to excellence in every project we undertake. Our ability to adapt to challenging situations, such as Covid times, and offer quick and effective solutions demonstrates our dedication to customer satisfaction.
This project highlights the level of expertise and response capacity of Hidroproyectos in high-precision bathymetric studies.
