Preliminary study for the construction of a port terminal in Martin Chico, Uruguay.
Project: Preliminary study for construction of port terminal in Martin Chico
Client: EIH Estudio de Ingeniería Hidráulica S.A.
Date: October 2022 - December 2022
Place: Martín Chico, Uruguay
Description: «The Hidroprojects team has carried out a geophysical study in the majestic Río de La Plata, between Km 107 and 114, in the geographical area that extends from Punta Dorado to Punta Martín Chico. This project was executed using a Sub Profiler Seabed iXblue Echoes 3500 T1, with the aim of inspecting the first layer below the seabed. «
During the inspection, our team has worked diligently to detect crystalline rock or consolidated sediments that could affect port terminal construction activities in the area. To complement this study, we have also performed detailed bathymetry using the Odom MKIII HF 200 kHz Echosounder. This technique has allowed us to corroborate the existing depths and precisely determine the water column in the study area.
The scope of our work included the mobilization of highly trained personnel, the vessel and specialized equipment. Once there, the vessel was adapted for the installation of equipment such as SBP, SBES, GNSS, IMU, and the necessary acquisition computers.
Our technical team was also responsible for the installation and configuration of all components, ensuring their correct operation and carrying out exhaustive testing of acquisition parameters. The acquisition of SBP and SBES seismic data was carried out in the work area, guaranteeing the obtaining of accurate and detailed information.
Once the acquisition phase was completed, we proceeded with the uninstallation of all the components of the boat. Finally, the demobilization of personnel and equipment was carried out, leaving the study area in its original state.
As a result of this meticulous work, we have carried out the processing of SBP seismic data and the interpretation of seismic stratigraphic horizons. In addition, we have generated an isopach map of the first layer, prepared detailed plans and a complete technical report of the work carried out.
At Hidroprojectos, we are committed to excellence in studies and engineering for maritime works and the use of cutting-edge technologies to provide our clients with accurate and valuable information. This project in the Río de La Plata is a testament to our dedicated approach and our ability to meet challenges in complex marine environments.
